On May 7, the Indian Armed Forces initiated Operation Sindoor with the aim of striking nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Jammu and Kashmir (PoK).

Operation Sindoor was carried out as retaliation following the terrorist assault in Pahalgam on April 22.

On Sunday, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, stated that the conflicts between India and Pakistan over the past three to four days have been as intense as a full-scale war.

He honored five deceased soldiers from the military and civilians who perished because of shelling from Pakistan over the Line of Control (LoC).

He stated that the Pakistan Army could potentially be engaged in infiltrations across the Line of Control with the aim of causing damage to army outposts.

"The events unfolding over the past 3 to 4 days are nothing short of warfare. Typically, the airforces of these nations wouldn’t engage in aerial attacks against one another. Usually, infiltrations occurring across the Line of Control involve terrorist groups rather than military operations. Our intelligence indicates that the Pakistani army might be participating in such cross-border incursions aimed at threatening our outposts," stated Ghai during a press conference held locally.

"I pay my solemn homage to my five fallen colleagues and brothers from the armed forces and civilians who tragically lost their lives in Operation Sindoor. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families...Their sacrifices shall always be remembered," he added.

The DGMO cautioned that India has shown significant restraint while concentrating solely on measures that do not escalate tensions. Any challenge to the nation's sovereignty will be confronted with strong resolve. (ANI)
