In the United States, there’s a distinctive park that stands as the sole location globally where guests can hunt for genuine diamonds and keep their discoveries. Recently, a visitor managed to walk away with a precious stone valued at several thousand dollars.

Crater of Diamonds State Park, situated in Murfreesboro, Arkansas perches at the top of a volcanic crater, attracting countless amateur treasure seekers each year who share a single objective: striking it rich.

Ever since it was designated as a state park in 1972, this 37.5-acre location has turned into an essential stop for tourists from all over. Up until now, an impressive total of 35,000 diamonds have been discovered here.

Guests have the option to use their personal tools or rent equipment on-site, with these being utilized in three main methods for hunting diamonds.

First is conducting surface searches by walking through the fields, second involves wet sifting where water helps in separating stones from soil, and thirdly, there’s dry sifting which is done without water.

The park includes both a Diamond Discovery Center and a visitor center, offering visitors the chance to explore local geology and get help from park personnel in identifying and registering items they discover.

Should a visitor discover a diamond, the staff will inspect, measure the weight, and authenticate the gem at no cost, according to the report. Sun .

Although the diamond search area is the primary draw, Crater of Diamonds State Park also provides hiking paths, picnic zones, a campsite, a fishing pond, and an amusement park with a mining theme known as Diamond Springs.

Access to the diamond search area is priced at $15 (£11+) for adults and $7 (£5+) for children. The cost of entering the water park varies between $10 and $12.

The park is situated close to Murfreesboro, a quaint town whose population barely exceeds 1,600 residents.

The closest significant urban center is Texarkana, located at the boundary between Texas and Arkansas. It gained prominence due to its rich musical heritage and an iconic federal courthouse that spans across both states.

Located merely six miles away from the park, Lake Greeson provides extra opportunities for outdoor activities such as boating, hiking, and fishing.
